- The Earth is round.
- The Sun is the center of our home Solar System.
- Our Earth and other planets in the Solar System revolve in orbits around the Sun.
- Our Sun is a star, and is in the Milky Way Galaxy.
- The Milky Way Galaxy has about 100 million stars.
- The Milky Way Galaxy is but one of a couple of trillion other galaxies.
- The existential questions are, “Who are we, where did we come from and why are we here?” and, “Where did the universe come from? When? What was here before?”
- Nobody knows.
- Learned people across the ages (as well as charlatans) developed systems of answers to explain the inexplainable.
- When people want an easy answer to complex or unknowable questions, there will always be someone who comes forth with a simple answer we want to hear.
- Thus, the world’s religions, varied and different though they may be, all offer solutions to the eternal questions and the unknowable, accepted as matters of faith, based on no verifiable facts.
