Of all of the cheapest tricks a politician can use is when all else fails is to hide behind the mantle of religion, and in this country, it is the Christian faith, primarily the ultra-conservate fundamentalist interpretation of selected Bible passages.

A few of the more manipulative politicians appeal to the emotions of the least well educated segments of the population to “bring God back into the government”, insisting the country was founded based on the Christian faith. It wasn’t, and the First Amendment was written specifically to exclude the influence of any religions.

Among other things, it guarantees freedom FROM religion and all those who would use biblical pretext for acts of suppression and/or exclusion.

Yet, many politicians insist that we should be more of a Theocracy than Democratic Republic.

For example, probably the most religious country on earth is Iran, with its Theocratic rule and Morality Police. Wanna’ be free? Not in Iran.
